The Work Project To Launch Coworking Centre At 6 Battery Road

SINGAPORE – The Work Project, a coworking space provider, announced that it will open a coworking outlet measuring about 50,000 sq ft at 6 Battery Road, a 42-storey Grade A office tower in Raffles Place, reported The Edge on Thursday afternoon (28 July, SGT).

The coworking space will open in October 2022, which will mark the completion of the upgrading works at 6 Battery Road, a commercial property that was formerly known as the Standard Chartered Bank Building.

The company shared that it will run the coworking space – situated on level 3, 6, and 7 – under a management agreement. Specifically, the 3rd floor will house The Work Project’s main business hub with board rooms, function rooms, and meeting rooms, as well as coworking desks and offices. As for the other two levels, they will contain office suites.

“This partnership will not only allow the building owner to deliver integrated solutions to their tenants, but also increase the breadth of amenities available in the building. This will give the building an edge on the competition and drive higher returns,” said Noeleen Goh, Global Head of real estate at The Work Project.

Goh believes that this kind of management agreement between office landlords and coworking operators will “change the landscape for the commercial market”. She expects to witness more of such deals in the local coworking sector and across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

Moreover, The Work Project teamed up with design company Matthew Shang Design Office (MSDO) to create a vibrant and attractive workplace at the 6 Battery Road office building.

“We drew inspiration from the trading and mercantile history of the river, as well as the building façade with its materials and form, to bring about a workspace which is intriguing, fascinating, and engages with its surroundings,” commented MSDO’s Creative Director Matthew Shang.

Upon completion of the 6 Battery Road branch, the new premises will be The Work Project’s 10th coworking space across the globe. This comes shortly after the company opened branches in CapitaSpring in Singapore and Quay Quarter Tower in Sydney earlier in 2022.
