IWG Takes Over Another Former WeWork Branch In Hong Kong
HONG KONG – Coworking space operator IWG is transforming a workspace in landlord Swire’s newly renovated 8 Queen Road East (8QRE) office tower in Wanchai into a Spaces outlet after WeWork relinquished its lease there, according to a press release published on Monday afternoon (28 March, SGT).
Poised to open in July 2022, the new state-of-the-art flexible office will come with 70 private offices and more than 900 workstations, with 5 levels dedicated for enterprise suites.
Besides managed offices, the new Spaces outlet in Hong Kong’s central business district (CBD) will feature a two-storey “Business Club” that comes with an open plan layout for hot-desking and hosting informal meetings.
“The new Spaces at 8QRE, which is our seventh location in Hong Kong and a landmark addition to our Hong Kong network, will enable more businesses and employees to adopt hybrid working that is better for people, the planet, and profits,” said Paul MacAndrew, Country Manager for IWG in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
“We are thrilled to further our ambitious plans for growth with this prominent new centre in Admiralty, one of the largest business hubs in Hong Kong and a hotspot for enterprises of all shapes and sizes.”
Don Taylor, Director for office at Swire Properties added: “We’re delighted to welcome IWG, a leading global workspace provider, to our Hong Kong office portfolio. IWG’s commitment to the entire 8QRE will help to boost the flex space offering to not only our Pacific Place tenants, but the greater business community as well.”
Situated opposite of Three Pacific Place and next to the Admiralty MTR station and the Starstreet Precinct, 8QRE is a Grade A office tower that has undergone extensive refurbishment. Among its notable features is a modern, glazed glass facade that lets in natural light that boosts occupants’ wellbeing and reduces the need for artificial lights.
The unveiling of the Spaces outlet at 8QRE follows IWG’s opening of a Spaces branch at Tower 535 in Causeway Bay earlier this year. In 2021, the coworking space provider has been speeding up its expansion in Hong Kong through its Spaces and Signature brands, adding up to 163,200 sq ft to its network in the city.
“As we continue to expand our network in all markets and work towards adding 1,000 locations globally over the next year, we are very pleased to be a preferred partner for Swire Properties in Hong Kong. Through Spaces at 8QRE, we will provide a Great Day at Work to even more customers,” added IWG’s MacAndrew.
