Guoco Midtown To Be Ready From 2022

SINGAPORE – Guoco Midtown, an upcoming mixed-use development within the central business district (CBD) that comes with 770,000 sq ft of Grade A office space, will be completed in phases between 2022 and 2024, according to a press release published by its developers on Sunday (14 February).

Dubbed as the “City of the Future”, the massive 3.2ha project is expected to bring an additional 10,000 office workers, visitors, and residents daily into Singapore’s Beach Road-Bugis district thanks to its 30-storey office tower, 3 retail clusters, 2 condominiums with over 700 high-end residences, and a 5-storey Network Hub.

But the developers revealed that its most striking feature is the Guoco Midtown Gardens, which is touted as the largest privately-developed collection of gardens in the city-state’s CBD.

Housing over 350 species of plants including some rare and endangered native flora, it encompasses 30 thematic gardens and landscaped spaces measuring 3.8 hectares that extend all the way from the ground level to the rooftop of the towers in the development.

Of the gardens, 10 are publicly accessible. These include a Native Garden of indigenous plants and orchids, where one can view the allure of the world’s biggest orchid, the Tiger Orchid. There’s a Forest Giants Walk that is lined with towering tropical trees, and a Water Garden filled with aquatic plans, while the Midtown Market showcases a hanging collection of epiphytes.

Meanwhile, the Sky Gardens crowning the office tower is meant for tenants there. Offering breath-taking views over Kallang Basin, Marina Bay, and Singapore’s skylines, it is an excellent place for corporate events, as well as a haven for office workers looking to relax.

“Our vision for Guoco Midtown is to bring about a transformation of the neighbourhood into a new business and lifestyle destination in the CBD. One of the new identities of the future ‘Midtown’ of Singapore is a botanic garden in the city – one that is knitted into the urban fabric of an integrated mixed development,” said GuocoLand Singapore’s Group Managing Director Cheng Hsing Yao.

“The biophilic design of Guoco Midtown also demonstrates how the private sector can play a role in a whole-of-nation effort to contribute to the Singapore Green Plan 2030. Guoco Midtown’s city in nature concept is built upon these principles to make our city greener, more liveable and promote a sustainable lifestyle with green transportation and green buildings,” he added.

The multi-billion project is being jointly developed by GuocoLand, Guoco Group, Hong Leong Holdings, and Hong Realty.

Located along Beach Road and Tan Quee Lan Street, the mega development is directly connected to the Bugis MRT Interchange Station.
