Google Employees To Return To Office By Sep 2021

Once it’s safe to return to the office, the company will pilot a “flexible workweek”, said Sundar Pichai, the CEO of its parent firm, Alphabet Inc, in an email to its workers on Sunday night. Under this plan, staff are expected to do their jobs in the office for 3 days per week so they can collaborate, while they can work remotely during other days.

While it’s still unknown when Google will announce the flexible work schedules due to the different COVID-19 restrictions in the countries where it operates, such work arrangement may not be applicable to some workers, particularly those who spend lots of time interacting with clients or fellow staff at its laboratories and data centres.
In March, the search giant was one of the first firms to inform its staff to begin telecommuting before other companies understood the severity of the health crisis. It has also repeatedly delayed the time frame when it expects its workers to return to the office from next January to July, and then to September 2021.
