Clyde & Co Transfers 2 London Lawyers To Singapore

SINGAPORE – Highlighting the appeal of the city-state to multinational law firms, Clyde & Co has decided to relocate two attorneys from London to Singapore, reported Reinsurance News on Thursday (25 August, SGT).

In particular, the law firm is transferring top international litigator Andrew Bicknell, as it intends to expand its Shipping and Marine Insurance practice in Singapore and offer more support to clients across Asia Pacific.

Bicknell is widely recognised as a leading lawyer in the sector, with over 30 years of experience representing customers in a range of international shipping, trading, and marine insurance disputes.

“I have had a long association with Singapore, having been one of the two founding members of the office when it was opened in 1991. After a four-year stint, I went back to London, but returned in 2003 for another four years,” said Bicknell.

“I look forward to working even more closely with clients on the ground in the region as part of our globally integrated team.”

Also relocating to Singapore is Associate Callum Gerrish, who focuses on shipping and trade and will further boost Clyde & Co’s robust insurance recovery claims and casualty practice in the region.

The duo’s relocation follows recent growth in the law firm’s Singapore office. These included the hiring of corporate investigations, regulatory compliance, and commercial disputes partner Weiyi Tan, as well as promotion to partner of insurance & reinsurance dispute resolution specialist Vanessa Lim

“We have been working for clients in the shipping, marine, and natural resources sectors in Asia Pacific for over three decades, and the opportunities for businesses in the region keep on evolving,” said Chris Jobson, Partner and Chair of Clyde & Co’s APAC Board, in explaining the rationale of the duo’s transfer to Singapore.
