OFFICE RENT INDEX FOR CENTRAL REGION DECLINED BY 3.5% Q-O-Q IN Q3 2021 WHILE ISLANDWIDE VACANCY JUMPED TO 12.9%

Rental indexes for office space in Singapore's central region declined by 3.5 percent from the previous quarter, according to the Urban Redevelopment Authority. As compared to the 1.3% rise in Q2 2021, this signals weakness in the office rental market in Q3.

In Q3 2021, the amount of occupied office space contracted by 25,000 sqm net lettable area (NLA), following a 23,000 sqm reduction in the previous quarter. Meanwhile, the stock of office space grew by 31,000 sqm NLA in Q3 2021, this follows an increase of 34,000 sqm in Q2 2021. This has resulted in the islandwide vacancy rate of office space rising to 12.9% by the end of Q3 2021, from 12.6% by the end of Q2 2021
